Summer Sermon Series – “Words to Live By”

Jesus’ teachings in the Gospel of Matthew can be comforting, challenging, and confusing, but they are all “Words to Live By.” This week, we look at Matthew 10: 40-42“Whoever welcomes you, welcomes me.” We will also receive the sacrament of Communion, remembering that all are welcome at Christ’s Table.

Vacation Bible School

We can use your help! Volunteers and financial donations for supplies are still needed. Talk to Pastor Erin to see how you can help!

Firework Stand

Our Shared Ministry is once again supporting the Big Pine Fireworks Stand at Mendenhall Park, north of the Big Pine Fire Department, which helps support ministry in the community and scholarships for local students. If you are planning on purchasing safe and sane fireworks, please consider the Big Pine stand. If you are able to volunteer, Pastor Matt is seeking folks who can commit to two-hour shifts. Thank you!

Pie Sale

At Noon on July 4th, come enjoy pie a la mode, and support mission and ministry at the same time! The Independence United Methodist Women are having their annual Pie Sale, which will be held in Dehy Park (the north end of Independence, on the west side of Hwy 395), which helps support mission and ministry in the community. In addition to customers, donations of non-perishable pies are also welcome! Please contact Pastor Erin for help with delivery. If you are able to volunteer, please contact the Church Office. Thank you, and Happy Independence Day!

Ladies’ Hiking Group

Do you enjoy hiking? All women are welcome to participate in the United Methodist Women’s summer hiking group. Each month from June to September, they meet to hike a nearby trail and then have lunch at a nearby restaurant. In June, the group hiked at Rock Creek. To learn about future hikes, please contact Karen Scott, Mary Allen, or the Church Office at 760-872-7701.
